Mindfulness

For Individuals

Today’s reality includes constant change, significant pressure, an information overload, and nonstop distractions from all aspects of modern life – often leading to a sense of overwhelm. Taking care of ourselves physically, mentally, and emotionally is hugely important.

Mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress, increase focus and attention, improve the quality of sleep, ease pain, reduce anxiety, increase resilience, and boost the immune system.

Did you know that training in mindfulness can also:

  • Help you let go of distractions,
  • Restore your energy & promote relaxation,
  • Improve listening & decision-making skills,
  • Boost creativity and innovation, and
  • Lead to better health and overall well-being?

Q: How would your life change if you were even just a little more mindful?

For Organisations

Mindfulness is a powerful tool for employee performance, transformation, and growth, with the potential of going much further than the typical well-being initiatives most organisations use it for.

Don’t limit it to being a perk – in the rapidly-changing world of today, taking care of employees’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being is fast becoming the equivalent to business success.

Did you know that mindfulness can:

  • Enhance the sense of connection within and between teams,
  • Alleviate stress and anxiety,
  • Spark creativity and innovation,
  • Sharpen focus and productivity, and
  • Foster resilience, better health, and overall well-being?

It has also been shown to reduce absenteeism, lower health care costs and increase employee retention.

What Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness facilitator and coach Neil Truncik, in a business shirt with eyes closed

Mindfulness is paying attention in the present moment – to each moment and all that it has to offer. All of us are already mindful to some degree in our lives. For example, stopping to look at a beautiful sunset; looking into the eyes of a loved one; watching animals or our pets playing and being fully present with exactly what is happening, moment by moment. Even professional sports players could be considered mindful when fully focusing their attention in each moment in what they call “the zone”.

The opposite of being mindful is being mindless or unaware, which many of us identify with as being on “autopilot”. Have you ever driven home from work, only to realize you don’t remember how you got there? Or passed countless time on social media, scrolling endlessly? Next time you’re on the bus, train, or waiting in line – look around and see how many people are mindlessly using their phones instead of being present with what’s happening around them.

Through training we can further develop our capacity for mindfulness, enabling us to fully experience and truly live every moment. We all have this innate capacity to live and not just do. We are, after all, human beings and not human doings.

8-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program was founded by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979 and is the subject of the best selling book Full Catastrophe Living. Thousands of participants around the world have gone through the MBSR program since its creation, and it is still considered the gold standard in secular mindfulness training today.

The central focus of the program is training in mindfulness meditation and its integration into the challenges/adventures of everyday life.

The Details:

Offered as an in-depth 8-week training course (one evening per week, one all-day retreat, and daily home practice), the MBSR program enables you to progressively learn various mindfulness practices, the science behind it and how it works, and build a strong foundation for integrating mindfulness and its many benefits into your daily life.

Participants in MBSR programs worldwide have reported an increased ability to manage stressful situations, anger, fear, anxiety and depression – both at home and in the workplace. Participants have also reported an overall improved quality of life, improvements to working memory, less emotional reactivity and, last but not least, more effective communication (in both speaking and listening).

The program is challenging and life-changing.

No previous experience is required, however participating in the MBSR program requires an ongoing commitment to yourself.

"Meditation makes me feel like I have found the “pause button” that allows me to be in the moment and escape the constant anticipation that occupies so much of our brain."

Caroline, 8-week mindfulness program participant

"MBSR helped me to relativise [sic] my daily situations at the office and at home. Analyse and realise what is important enough to worry about."

Beat, 8-week mindfulness program participant

"I had my initial doubts, and I can be cynical, but the MBSR course proved to be a very good investment. I learned not only useful coping techniques but how to recognise times when I need them and how to effectively put into practice. Helped my stress levels… I thoroughly recommend this course."
